MEXICO CITY First-year PGA Tour player Jon Rahm announced this week that hes taking up affiliate membership on the European Tour this season, which is not a surprise given the Spaniards affinity for Europe and the Ryder Cup. But he wasnt alone in shifting a bit of his focus across the Atlantic Ocean.Kevin Na, who was born in South Korea but lives in the United States, also took up affiliate membership in Europe this week.I always thought about it, Na said Wednesday at the WGC-Mexico Championship. I always had an interest and felt this was the year. Maybe add a few tournaments to the schedule, go on a little Euro trip with my wife. It could be fun.

Na said he isnt sure of his European schedule yet, but he plans to play one or two events with an eye toward qualifying for the Race to Dubai.Rahm, who won the Farmers Insurance Open earlier this year, said he always planned to join the European circuit. As an affiliate member he doesnt have to play a minimum number of events, but he said the Valderrama Masters back home in Spain in October is on his schedule and he would likely play a block of events around the Open in July.It would make no sense to go for one week and just play that, he said. Ive never done it before, so if Im going to Europe Ill probably play more than one.
