Williams splitting with Scott, caddying on LPGA in N.Z.

After seven years together, including a couple on a part-time basis, the partnership between Adam Scott and caddie Steve Williams is nearing an end.Williams will loop in a women's event for the first time this week when he's on the bag for Danielle Kang at the New Zealand Open, and he told the New Zealand Herald that his time on Scott's bag will not extend into 2018."I'm not going to caddie for Adam next year. He'll return to having a full-time caddie," Williams said. "He's had a job share where he's had two caddies for the last two seasons, but he wants to return to one caddie next season."

Williams and Scott have been together since 2011, although the Kiwi briefly retired in 2015. He returned to Scott on a part-time basis, usually working the big events while David Clark was on the bag for other tournaments, including Scott's back-to-back wins in Florida last spring. When Scott had Clark caddie at last month's PGA Championship, it marked his first major without Williams since the 2015 Masters.Scott altered his schedule this year, playing the week before every major in part as a way to get Williams better acclimated. But after an underwhelming season, he failed to advance past the Dell Technologies Championship (the second playoff event) and has dropped to No. 22 in the latest world rankings. His T-6 finish at The Players Championship is his best result in 16 worldwide starts this year.Clark is expected to caddie for Scott this week at the Presidents Cup, where the Aussie is the fifth highest-ranked player on Nick Price's International squad.Williams was on the bag for 13 of Tiger Woods' 14 major titles, and he was instrumental in guiding Scott to a Masters win and the world No. 1 ranking in 2013. According to the report, he will remain on Scott's bag for two starts in Asia next month, at the inaugural CJ Cup in South Korea as well as the WGC-HSBC Champions in China.
