The R&A announced on Monday the Great Britain and Ireland team for this years Walker Cup.The team includes Harry Ellis, who won The Amateur; Alfie Plant, low amateur at The Open; and notable European amateur winners Jack Singh Brar and Matthew Jordan.GB&I is the defending champion, having won, 16 to 9 , two years ago at Royal Lytham & St. Annes. This years matches will take place at Los Angeles Country Club, Sept. 9-10.The U.S. team was announced on Sunday.Heres a look at the full GB&I team, captained by Craig Watson:

The team includes Harry Ellis, who won The Amateur; Alfie Plant, low amateur at The Open; and notable European amateur winners Jack Singh Brar and Matthew Jordan.

After winning the first hole with a birdie on the 539-yard par-5, a team of Collin Morikawa and Norman Xiong found a groove, carding winning birdies on the next three holes, and a par that would be good enough to go 5-up on the fifth against a GB&I team made up of 2017 British Amateur Champion Harry Ellis and British Open Silver Medalist Alfie
The Great Britain and Ireland Walker Cup Team Is Announced


The Walker Cup Match is a biennial 10-man amateur team competition between the USA and a team composed of players from Great Britain and Ireland and selected by The R&A. It is played over two days with 18 singles matches and eight foursomes (alternate-shot) matches.

England's Plant was the leading amateur at the 2017 Open Championship at Royal Birkdale to win the Silver Medal The 25-year-old from Bexleyheath, who is also the current European amateur champion, plans to turn professional after the 46th Walker Cup match against the United States at the Los Angeles Country Club from Sept. 9-10.
